Ferry From Le Havre to Portsmouth
The ferry route from Le Havre to Portsmouth is operated by LD Lines. The service runs all year round and normally crosses back and forth once every day.
All of LD Lines ships are fully equipped with modern onboard facilities. These are maintained to a high standard, ensuring passengers have the level of comfort and safety they expect from a modern day ferry company.
Each crossing takes around 5 ½ hours each way and there is no shortage of trips back and forth, with 14 crossings each week.
So in less than six hours, you have the option of visiting a variety of tourist attractions based in Portsmouth itself. Most of Portsmouth’s tourist attractions are related to its naval history. In the last ten years the historic dockyard area has received a much needed cash injection, which has improved the look of the site and makes it even more enjoyable to see some of the famous ships docked there.
With the HMS Victory, Henry VIII’s flagship, The Mary Rose and Britain’s first iron-clad steamship, the HMS Warrior, there is no shortage of sights in a port-town that has a great deal of history on offer.
Among other attractions are the D-day Museum, which holds the Overlord Embroidery and the Royal Naval Museum. The city also sports two theatres, designed by the Edwardian architect, Frank Matcham.
There are also three well-established music venues which promote live concerts of all kinds - ranging from current artists to Classical events, hosted by the Bournemouth Symphonic Orchestra.
